Albanian Woman in Audiovisual (AWA) launches the podcast series “The Hidden Shades of Feminism,” a dedicated platform challenging conventional views on feminism.
Tirana, November 26 – Albanian Woman in Audiovisual is pleased to present the first podcast series dedicated to gender equality issues in Albania. The podcast “The Hidden Shades of Feminism,” consisting of 14 episodes, aims to address a wide range of women’s issues, inviting the audience to open discussions and deepening understanding around complex topics related to gender equality in Albania. AWA thus provides a platform to explore various aspects of women’s lives, challenging conventional views on feminism in the country.
Feminism in Albania is often debated in limited terms, failing to see its true essence due to cultural and political barriers. Our podcast aims to broaden this conversation, overcoming these barriers and treating gender equality rights in a more inclusive approach.
Through interviews with selected personalities, such as psychologist Anila Sulstarova, actress Ema Andrea, journalists like Enkel Demi and Sonila Meço, sociologists like Ermira Danaj and researchers like Anxhela Cikopano, Ani Bajrami and Armanda Hysa, or artist Edison Ceraj and educators Ermal Hasimja and Diana Kastrati, the podcast delves into various aspects of feminism in Albania, giving voice to marginalized conversations through the previously untold experiences of the interviewees.
The podcast will begin airing on AWA’s channels on Youtube, Spotify, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and TikTok on November 27, 2023. This first podcast series is implemented with the support of the regional project “SMART Balkans – Civil Society for Shared Values in the Western Balkans,” implemented by the Center for the Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD) in partnership with the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) and the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM), financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA).
