Conference: Breaking the Frame – Balkan Women Reimagine Cinema
The event convenes leading voices from Albania, the Balkans, and France to engage in a high-level dialogue on the future of cinema in the region.
Bringing together 50 participants from across Europe — including representatives of Balkan National Film Centers, delegates from Centre National du Cinéma et de l’image animée (CNC France) and Eurimages, as well as producers and filmmakers — the conference creates a platform for institutional exchange and industry collaboration.
The central focus of the conference is advancing gender equality in the audiovisual sector through concrete policy discussions, the sharing of European and French best practices, and the development of actionable regional strategies. Through panels and keynote sessions, participants will explore how funding mechanisms, mentorship structures, and co-production models can foster a more inclusive and sustainable film ecosystem in the Balkans.
The conference is organized by Albanian Woman in Audiovisual, with the support of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of France in Albania, the Institut Français d’Albanie, and the National Film Center of Albania. The event is funded by the Embassy of France in Albania.
