Premiere of the Mini-Grants from the First Round of the Project “Breaking the Moulds, Shaping the Future”
Yesterday marked an important milestone in the creative journey of the project “Breaking the Moulds, Shaping the Future” with the premiere of the first mini-grants from the initial round. During the event, five short and documentary films were showcased, addressing various social and cultural themes with a special focus on gender equality and the challenges women face in media and society.
The evening dedicated to art and creativity also saw the distribution of seven additional mini-grants for new projects aimed at empowering young and courageous voices in the audiovisual field. This financial and creative support is essential to promote gender inclusion and challenge traditional narratives through the medium of film.
The event was honored by the presence of the European Union Ambassador to Albania, Mr. Silvio Gonzato, who deeply appreciated the significance of this initiative. He emphasized that the European Union is committed to supporting gender equality in media and empowering young artists and journalists who tell impactful stories. In his speech, Ambassador Gonzato stated: “I am proud to see the EU empowering young and courageous journalists and filmmakers to tell powerful stories. Through these narratives, they are helping to change the narrative, not only for women in media but also for women in society. My message to them: Keep creating, challenging, and supporting each other. The EU will continue to stand by your side.”
Special thanks go to the artists and creators who have contributed their work and passion to these films: Kejdi Demneri, Blerta Kambo, Belkisa Zhelegu, Xhensila Nako, and Armando Braho.
An important announcement for cinema lovers is that on June 20th, all productions will be published on the YouTube platform, offering viewers a unique opportunity to watch and experience these inspiring stories.
The project’s journey continues, with nine more films currently in development, bringing fresh perspectives and new stories. This initiative is implemented by Albanian Women in Audiovisual in cooperation with the Scidev Center and funded by the European Union Delegation to Albania.
This initiative represents a significant step toward empowering women and achieving gender equality in media, creating a space where young voices can freely express themselves and contribute to societal change.
