Albanian Women in Audiovisual (AWA) is looking for dedicated mentors to support journalists throughout their professional journey by helping them strengthen their skills and develop articles addressing some of the most challenging and underreported issues in the media, including:
• Hate speech and discriminatory discourse in the media landscape;
• Sexism in the media and hate speech targeting women;
• The lack of fair representation of ethnic, gender, religious, and cultural diversity;
• Sensitive, inclusive, and professional reporting on marginalized communities;
• Promoting stories with multiple perspectives that go beyond one-sided narratives and challenge divisive discourse through facts, ethics, and empathy.
🎯 What will you do as a mentor?
• Guide and support early-career journalists throughout the reporting and writing process;
• Help them identify balanced perspectives and apply professional ethics when covering sensitive topics;
• Provide regular feedback and practical guidance for improvement;
• Support emerging professionals in cultivating journalism that gives space to every voice—not only as a profession that describes reality, but as one that engages with people, facts, contexts, ethics, and critical reasoning.
✅ Required qualifications:
• Experience in journalism, communications, or human rights-related fields;
• Ability to mentor and collaborate with journalists at the early stages of their careers;
• Knowledge of issues related to representation, discrimination, and hate speech in the media;
• Commitment to ethics, equality, and critical thinking in communication.
